Business Development Manager

HOURS: Part-Time up to 20 hours per week

LOCATION: Hybrid: Paris, Ontario & remote, with travel around Ontario

The Raw Carrot is a social enterprise empowering people who face barriers to traditional employment to secure their own livelihoods through the dignity of work. We employ individuals on social assistance to cook gourmet, handcrafted food products. The product sales revenue pays for the staff salaries and overall business expenses. The Raw Carrot operates with a “Social License” business model where The Raw Carrot HQ partners with non-profits and churches to start a licensed Raw Carrot Site. We currently have five Sites across Ontario employing 40+ individuals with barriers. Our vision is for all people in Canada to be meaningfully employed with a goal grow to 25 sites across Canada by 2030 employing 150+ staff. 

POSITION OVERVIEW: We are seeking a part-time Business Development Manager to join our team and help foster relationships with key external stakeholders, including churches, donors, corporate partners, and other community organizations.

The Business Development Manager will have a forward-facing role responsible for developing product sales opportunities and potential new Raw Carrot sites. This position requires a high level of strategic thinking, communication skills, leadership, relationship management, and motivation towards The Raw Carrot mission. You will work closely with the Director of Operations, Marketing Manager, and the Executive Director to align strategy, objectives, and social impact. 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  1. External Relationship Management and Outreach:
  2. Develop relationships with churches and non-profits as potential sales and/or production sites. 
  3. Connect with current individual donors and funders to share the impact of their giving. 
  4. Develop relationships with corporations as potential customers or donors. 
  5. Develop relationships with values-aligned strategic partners including church denominations, similar social enterprises and non-profits. 
  6. Represent The Raw Carrot at external events, conferences, and speaking engagements to raise awareness about our social impact and create potential partnerships. 

      Strategic Planning & CRM Tracking 

  1. Collaborate with the leadership team to refine and execute business development strategies that align with The Raw Carrot’s vision for growth. 
  2. Develop and maintain The Raw Carrot CRM to manage relationship pipelines with all external stakeholders. 

OBJECTIVES 

  • Develop at least 1 church distribution partner (Church Champions) per site.
  • Establish a large pipeline of churches and organizations to grow to 25 sites by 2023.
  • Maintain relationships with current donors and funders.
  • Transition The Raw Carrot CRM to Salesforce. 

QUALIFICATIONS 

Experience: Proven experience in business development. Experience in the food industry and/or social enterprise is a plus. 

Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to be a self-starter. 

Strategic Thinking: Excellent strategic planning and execution abilities. 

Communication: Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills. Ability to build relationships with clients, stakeholders, and team members. 

Project Management: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines. 

Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in sales analytics and CRM tools. Experience with Salesforce is a plus. 

Faith: An outward Christian faith and active involvement in a church (reference required)   

Transportation: Access to a car for travel   

Salary: $25-30/hour (commensurate with experience/skills/education) plus cell stipend  Mileage provided. As a condition of employment, the successful applicant must complete a Vulnerable Sector Screening Police Reference Check.
