Whereas, October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) in the Province of Ontario and on October 17th is the Light It UP for NDEAM; and
Whereas, advancing efforts in building an equitable and inclusive society that values the contributions of people with disabilities have been outlined in the County of Brant’s Multi-year Accessibility Plan 2020-2024; and
Whereas, the County of Brant is committed to the identification, removal, and prevention of accessibility barriers and by doing so, the County will provide an accessible environment in which employees, residents and visitors with disabilities can access the County’s goods, services, and facilities; and
Whereas, The Employment Standards under the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulations requires that the County of Brant support the recruitment and accommodation of employees with disabilities;
Therefore be it resolved that County of Brant Council hereby proclaims October 17th, 2024, as Light It Up for NDEAM and the month of October as National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM).
